Women Affairs Minister Condemns Sexual Violence Against Women In Ozoro Community Of Delta State

The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development has expressed deep concern over disturbing reports from Ozoro in Delta State, where women were allegedly subjected to sexual assault and harassment during activities linked to a local festival in Isoko North.  In a Press Statement signed by Ahmed Lawan Danbazau, Head, Press and Public Relations of the Ministry of Women Affairs and made available to the media, it stated that, "These reports, which have been widely described in public discourse as reflecting elements of “rape culture,” are deeply disturbing, unacceptable, and contrary to all norms of human dignity, public safety, and the rule of law. "No cultural or traditional practice can justify or excuse sexual violence in any form. Nigeria Commence Preparations To Host Two Of Africa’s Most Significant Continental Gatherings

With the inauguration of the IATF National Steering Committee by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Nigeria has formally commenced  preparations to host two of Africa’s most significant continental gatherings Speaking at the inauguration during her welcome address,  Dr. Oduwole described the moment as the beginning of a national assignment that places Nigeria at the heart of Africa’s trade, investment, and creative economy.  She noted that the continental spotlight will rest on Nigeria as it prepares to host platforms that directly connect commerce, culture, and economic cooperation across Africa. As part of Nigeria’s strategic positioning and commitment to driving sustainable energy solutions for Africa’s future, the Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, has participated in the opening ceremony of the African Energy Efficiency Conference held  in Ethiopia. Dr. Abdullahi, who was a special guest at the event, participated in critical conversations with senior officials, leading African figures, and the Energy Minister of Kenya, where discussions focused on the central role of energy efficiency in stimulating economic growth and strengthening climate resilience across Africa. The Director General of ECN , also engaged with representatives from the EU, the European Investment Bank, GIZ, the IEA, AFD, and SEforALL.  The engagements explored partnerships, financing pathways, and supportive policy frameworks aimed at expanding Nigeria’s contributions and ensuring meaningful outcomes throughout the conference.
